The meeting was about beekeeping as a source of livelihood and an alternative to some livelihood option with very small gloss margins. In attendance was H.E the Governor Joshua Irungu, Chief Officer Livestock Mary Gichuru , Anne Rowberry the current president British Beekeepers Association (BBKA), Margaret Murdin the past president BBKA, Joseph Gitonga of Bees4Kenya a program of CERA Rights and Bees Abroad.

From the discussion and with the commitment of the Governor the team agreed on the following among others:

1. Partner in developing a Laikipia County Beekeeping policy

2. Partner in establishing a farmers training school and industrial/ enterprise centre with beekeeping as the first value chain to be consider

3.The governor committed to follow up on concessions for use of forests for beekeeping

 4. Partner in agroforestry expansion
